CBI launches hunt for more accused

Hyderabad, Nov. 26: Armed with information provided by Swami Asimanand, the key accused in the Macca Masjid blast case, the CBI is on the lookout for more accused.

The CBI will be interrogating Asimanand from November 27 to December 4 to corroborate his earlier confessions after his arrest and to get more details. The agency has been granted seven days custody of the accused though it had sought 15 days.

A CBI source said that one Bharat Bhai, a key aide of Asimanand, had guided accused Sunil Joshi, Sandeep Dange and Ramchandra Kalsangara in planting bombs at the Macca Masjid.

Bharat Bhai, a native of Valsad in Gujarat, is also wanted in the Ajmer blast as deceased Sunil Joshi called him after planting the bomb. CBI also suspects that Joshi might have been killed to remove evidence in the Macca Masjid blast.

The CBI has telephonic conversations between Asimanand and Sadhvi Pragya Singh as evidence. The conversations confirm that the duo planned terror strikes at religious places. Asimanand apparently used his driver, Sunil Dhwade’s cell phone to make calls to Pragya Singh.

Meanwhile, two Anti-Terrorist Squad teams, from Rajasthan and Maharashtra, have arrived in the city to question Asimanand.
